WOH is committed to promoting gender equality and empowering women as a cornerstone of sustainable development in Afghanistan. We focus on improving access to healthcare and education for women and girls, helping them achieve independence and lead healthier, more empowered lives. Since 2025, our dedicated Gender Unit has ensured that all programs are gender-sensitive and inclusive, supporting a culture of equality both within our organization and the communities we serve.
WOH believes that sustainable change begins with empowered communities. Through public education and communication initiatives (IEC/BCC), we ensure communities are informed, engaged, and involved in shaping the services they receive. By promoting local participation in planning, monitoring, and evaluation, WOH strengthens ownership, accountability, and the overall impact of its programs—leading to lasting improvements in community well-being.
WOH is committed to protecting all children—regardless of gender, ability, ethnicity, or background—from harm, abuse, and exploitation. Guided by international standards and Afghan law, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, WOH’s Child Protection Policy ensures a safe and supportive environment for every child. Key principles include zero tolerance for child abuse, strict prohibition of child labor, and shared responsibility among families, communities, and institutions to safeguard children's rights. WOH works closely with parents, caregivers, and partners to uphold children's safety, dignity, and well-being in all aspects of its work.
WOH is dedicated to improving health standards and strengthening the health system in both urban and rural communities. Through integrated promotive, preventive, and curative services, this program addresses key health needs with a community-centered approach. Key objectives include expanding access to basic healthcare, increasing women’s use of reproductive and maternal health services, combating communicable diseases and malnutrition, improving hygiene and sanitation, and enhancing the capacity of health workers to deliver quality care.
WOH is committed to advancing education in Afghanistan by promoting accessible, inclusive, and high-quality learning opportunities. While there are no active education projects at present, WOH has established a strong strategic vision to support future educational development across the country. Key objectives include improving adult literacy, enhancing teacher training, expanding vocational and technical education, and increasing access to online learning—especially in remote areas. WOH emphasizes gender equality, community involvement, and innovative, evidence-based approaches to education. With a focus on lifelong learning and skill-building, WOH aims to launch impactful education initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and human capacity building in Afghanistan.
WOH is dedicated to delivering timely and effective healthcare during emergencies and health crises. While no active emergency projects are currently underway, WOH has the technical expertise and operational readiness to respond rapidly when needed. Our trained health professionals are prepared to support vulnerable populations—especially children, pregnant women, and the elderly—during disasters, outbreaks, and other emergencies. WOH also focuses on building community resilience through training in first aid, disease prevention, and emergency preparedness. By prioritizing rapid response, collaboration with health authorities, and system strengthening, WOH aims to reduce the impact of crises and protect community well-being.
WOH is currently in the process of developing specialized strategies and programs aimed at combating malnutrition and improving food security in Afghanistan. While the organization has not yet implemented active projects in this sector, its goals and key plans are clearly defined. Planned initiatives include providing essential nutrients to vulnerable groups such as children and pregnant women, distributing fortified foods and nutritional supplements, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. These efforts are designed to improve overall public health and enhance the well-being of local communities. With a focus on these strategic objectives and the preparation of necessary infrastructure, WOH intends to implement effective nutrition projects in the near future, playing a vital role in improving nutritional status and food security within thecommunities it serves.
